Real Step Is The Name Of The 1st Album Of The Brand New Label Bassajam Records Featuring Many International Artists

Real Step is the name of the 1st album of the brand new label Bassajam Records. The project combines old and new generation of the reggae scene to mix confirmed artists and new talents. 14 tracks with a large variety of sounds interpreted by 17 international artists including La Dame Blanche, Marcus Gad, Lidiop, Vanzo, Skarra Mucci and many more. From Jamaica to Cuba via New Caledonia, Senegal and Bermuda… a real melting-pot that sounds like an invitation to travel, a cultural escape!

Rocked by the Reggae influence since his childhood, music quickly became Selecta Santo’s passion. Bassajam Sound was born in 2004 and was originally a group that Santo created with friends. It became a #1 sound system in French Britain, performing in a lot of events, concerts and then opening shows for major artists followed. And then several hundred performances throughout France and Europe, with the primary aim of sharing, meeting and delivering reggae music as Santo felt it.

Big names in Reggae such as Raggasonic, Blacko, Nuttea, or the late Tonton David will write a common page on stage with Santo and the Bassajam Sound.

During the pandemic, Santo decided to share live streams on social networks to fight against isolation, with a lot of success ! The magic happens, the communion takes place, a community takes shape and his dream of producing an album takes on its full meaning in front of this virtual and already loyal audience. In 2021, Santo decides to take a big step forward by creating his own label Bassajam Records. The adventure can start after he surrounds himself with two great musicians, Edwin Cardot and Fayce. A lot of round trips to the capital and hours of compositions in Parisian studios led to 7 instrumentals and Santo’s dream came true.

The Selector then contacted the singers who have been gravitating around the label and sound for years to explain the project to them. All artists came back positively to the young producer. Bassajam Records’ adventure will continue by presenting this opus on stage with its many artists for a hybrid and innovative show where machines, instruments and voices meet on stage.
