Protoje feat. Koffee Switch It Up New Release

During this time of reflection when the majority of the world is at a stand still, Jamaican musical pioneer Protoje ignites all senses on his most layered project to date. On August 28th, 2020 he returned with “In Search Of Lost Time”, his fifth studio album and first for RCA Records in a partnership with his label and artist management company.

In.Digg.Nation Collective facilitated through Six Course.
The conscious artist, dubbed a leader of the “reggae revival” movement, colors outside the lines for a cinematic, ethereal, multi-genre LP. Protoje executive produced the entire album and co-produced five out of the ten tracks. Hip hop and reggae have always heavily influenced his sound, but he raises the bar by merging these two worlds.

The visionary also casts a wide array of featured artists on this 10-track set celebrating life and its important lessons. For this single he taps Jamaican Grammy winner Koffee. She shouted out Protoje as one of her influences on her breakthrough hit “Toast” and on ”Switch It Up” they share the spotlight as two of the island’s biggest contemporaries.

The sound of Reggae is widely recognised because of its acoustically formed bass and drum downbeat, and its offbeat rhythm section. With such a diversity in style it is also considered complex enough to attract progressively minded musicians. A music that has a strong association with dance covering a variety of styles while also offering a background beat for those sharing Biblical chants of Zion. It is hard to ignore Reggae’s influence and how it interacts with our day-to-day lives. Shared as background music for films and advertising driving its heavy bass lines literally felt wherever rock and pop are played. Reggae has an affinity with mainstream British pop; recognised within the hip-hop culture and considered “cool” by those with no connection to Jamaica. As lovers of reggae my aim is to build a community of reggae followers that can share thoughts, news, events as listeners, artists, DJ’s and hosts.
