Joseph Williamson, who performs by the name Benaiah (be-ni-ya) is a word rooted in history and culture, was born in Kingston Jamaica. Benaiah began his music career as a bandleader, guitarist, vocalist and song writer in 1985.

From 2015 to 2022 Joseph Benaiah has been a member of the legendary reggae group, the Mighty Diamonds as Capo Diamond and He has performed and toured extensively with; or opened for such reggae acts as Dennis Brown, Toots and the Maytals, Marcia Griffiths, Micheal Rose and Freddie Mcgregor to name a few. He has performed in Japan, Brazil, Canada and most of the USA cities at major venues known for providing top notch reggae shows.

With four CDs to his credit and a career spanning more then 30 years, Joseph Benaiah’s CDs include “We Nah Give up” , “Children of Isreal” , “Time Eternal” and “New Beginning” . During the 1990’s Benaiah and his band was voted “Best Reggae Band in Miami” by the readers of new times and chose as “Best Live Band”. Joseph Benaiah received and award from Hi-class Promotions for Best Backing Band.

 Joseph Benaiah is preparing to unleash his latest production onto the global marketplace. The veteran singer has launched his fifth CD “Vision with Faith” in Toronto at the sixth annual Canadian Reggae Music conference at Reggae Cafe located at 1653 Eglinton avenue west. On his CD, Benaiah has assembled a powerful roster of world-renown musicians to ensure the authenticity and quality of music his fans have come to expect. Contributors and stalwarts such as Sly & Robbie Lyn, and Danny Bassie of the Firehouse crew. Stirring in a powerful horn section provides the stamp of classic roots rock sound and offers an additional benefit to the listeners.

Kingston recording studios such as Mixing Lab, Main Street, Tuff Gong, and Grafton Studios contributed to the genuine Jamaican sound. Production duties are shared by Joseph Benaiah and hit-maker Dean “Cannon” Fraser. Distribution is handled by Sphinx Records and marketing and promotion by Sphinx Record Company and Masani Productions Inc.
